Women in Genomics events at PAG 2026

The Women in Genomics network will host two events during the Plant and Animal Genome Conference (PAG33) in January 2026 in San Diego, CA (USA): a brand-new leadership workshop and our usual WIG Dinner.

🌟 WIG Workshop

Women in Genomics: Fostering Leadership and Innovation
When: Saturday 10 January 2026, 4:00–6:10 PM
Where: Palm 8

Despite significant advances in plant, animal, and microbial genomics, women remain underrepresented in leadership roles and continue to face unique barriers to career advancement. This workshop offers a dynamic forum designed to empower women at all career stages.

Participants will hear candid reflections from accomplished leaders – female scientists and male allies – who will share insights into their career paths, pivotal successes, setbacks, and strategies for navigating challenges.

Panel Participants:

  • Noelle Cockett, Utah State University, USA
  • Michelle Valentine, Bayer, USA
  • Scott Jackson, University of Georgia, USA
  • Cristobal Uauy, John Innes Centre, UK
  • Angela Records, FFAR, USA
  • Tanya Berardini, Phoenix Bioinformatics, USA

Immediately following the panel, there will be interactive speed networking to encourage community building and new connections.
